Air Taxi and eVTOL are to take over traffic conjection

Urban Air Mobility (UAM) this is rapidly becoming a multi-billion dollar industry. According to a Morgan Stanley Research study, the market for electric air taxis, should continue to grow to up to $1.5 trillion globally by 2040.

Despite the pandemic, the flying air taxi market is booming, changing the travel experience forever. Many air taxis are well into their development phase and a number of prototypes are already flying, with service entry imminent.

Providing a quick connection between the city center and the airport poses a huge challenge for the world’s major cities. The implementation of air taxis will allow us to relieve traffic congestion and will enable passengers to fly directly to and from their outlying destinations. With increasing road congestion, air taxis/Urban eVTOLs (vertical take-off & landing) have now formed a new line of business for airports, airlines, cities, hotels and much more, providing a new way for passengers and packages to arrive on time.

Driving this trend is a confluence of technologies, including autonomous vehicles such as drones and self-driving cars, more efficient batteries and advanced manufacturing techniques. Start-ups and major brands are developing them, including Boeing, Hyundai, Airbus, Toyota and Uber.

To name a few, United Airlines purchased 200 eVTOL aircrafts from Archer earlier this year, EHang joined forces with Aeroports de Catalunya on passenger transportation, aerial logistics, take-off and landing infrastructure, airspace management and regulatory certification. Volocopter and Helsinki Airport and Frankfurt Airport are working in partnership, developing autonomous air-taxi concept and Paris Airport and Skyports are furthering intelligent and eco-friendly autonomous aerial mobility solutions in Europe.
